As I stated last time I wrote on this issue, the Vatican had recalled its Papal Nuncio from Ireland in part because of "some degree of surprise and disappointment at certain excessive reactions."

I've found Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenney's speech. It is strongly worded, but factual.

...for the first time in this country a report on child sexual abuse exposes an attempt by the Holy See to frustrate an inquiry in a sovereign, democratic republic as little as three years ago, not three decades ago. In doing so the report excavates the dysfunction, disconnection and elitism that dominates the culture of the Vatican to this day.

The entire speech is well worth watching. Bring it to the attention of any of your Catholic friends who continue to make excuses for the Vatican on this issue.
