It's not worth it

I am a practising Catholic and I read the book. I doubt if Cardinal Bertone of Genova is really understood in advising people not to read this book. Personally I would not advise anyone to read the book either, not because it would weaken one's faith, rather because it is not worth all the hype generated about it.

I bought the book after stumbling upon its rave reviews on the internet and I enjoy reading about these kind of things. I was disappointed, really after spending 250 bucks[1] on a paperback I really expected the book to be a revelation but it turns out to be nothing more than a whodunnit involving secret police, priests and some very obscure mystery cult whose origins stem from former Moorish occupied regions of Southern Europe in the early dark ages.

As for the DaVinci Code it is nothing more than a parlour trick by a lefthanded artist, do not waste your time expecting any mind boggling revelations. I ended up just giving the book away and Dan Brown can be assured he will not be recieving any more royalties from me.
