I read the same article in the paper and just thought I would share one thought - Why did the Vatican tell the masses to stop its costly quest for cures AFTER the Pope is hospitalized?

Read the last five words again. If the Pope is to be admired for his suffering and rejection of improving medicine, then he sure shouldn't have gone to the hospital, that place is nothing but full of doctors trying to cure the ill.

How can the Vatican say that we should avoid modern medicine when it is that same medicine which keeps its leader alive?

If we are to truly admire the Pope, as the Vatican suggests, then not going to the hospital or taking any medication would be a start. The Vatican's hypocrisy in this regard is astounding.
