Both Mark and Robert are correct in their comments. I was a little bit loose with language in developing what is intended to be a humorous article.

But, regardless of what Mark might think, I wonder if any parade has been rained on. I don't think so.

Given the hypothesis, as stated in the original article, that the second law exists independent of space and time and existed prior to the initiation of the Universe , then it is a fundamental element of the initial conditions (Possibly the only initial condition.). And in the absence of anything else, those initial conditions could be considered the primal cause.
