H . Civilization

This word can be used in one of two ways. When used uncapitalized, the intent is the normal dictionary meaning: "an advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry, and government has been reached;" "those people or nations who have reached such a state;" "any type of culture, society, etc., of a specific place, time, or group;" "cultural refinement; refinement of thought and cultural appreciation." When used capitalized, the intent is the distinct definition intended by Spengler, who intended the word Civilization to denote the mastery of the intellect over the affairs of men, which mastery would occur during the "end times" (cultural decay stages) of any civilized people; as specifically contrasted with the word Culture, which would denote the mastery of the cultural "soul" over the affairs of men, which mastery would occur during the beginning times (cultural growth stages) of any particular civilized people.
