Dear Evan,

I am glad you got away from all that but your same story is being played out every day by many other individuals who are caught in that deceptive web - not that I want you to feel guilty that you got away but just that I am concerned for the many who are still caught up in it and the destruction it's causing.

Nevertheless, I would not want to see you turned off God - turned off 'religion' yes, but not God because he has been misrepresented.

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to get you reinvolved in any church, anything but, (I don't attend any church) - I just wanted to clarify 'turning the other cheek' because it has been taught all wrong. It distresses me how the Bible has been interpreted so literally when it is figurative and that has/is messing up a lot of very sincere people.

I will give an example tho you are no doubt familiar with it and I hope it doesn't distress you too much: "But I say to you, that you resist not evil: but whosever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also." (Matt: 5:39) Luke 6:29 says, "And unto him that smiteth you on the one cheek offer also the other..."

These verses are what I call 'confirming' ones -if you notice, the first provides information the second does not, namely that we are instructed to offer the 'right' cheek first.

If you look up 'right' (hand, cheek) in a Bible concordance you will see this is always related to God's right as in 'God's knowledge' (the scroll in Revelation is in God's 'right' hand), likewise to offer someone your 'right' cheek is to offer them true knowledge, if they reject it then offer them your 'left' cheek which is symbolic of 'don't give your spiritual pearls to swine who will not appreciate them'.

Or you just might want to read Vindicatus, it will clarify everything for you and I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

I want least of all to cause you further distress, and if you're still in a confused state then disregard everything I've said.
